Who is the Whiny GYNie

Andrea Giancontieri, Founder of The Whiny GYNie LLC, is a digital advertising veteran turned passionate advocate for women’s health, education, and the rights of underserved communities. Drawing on her extensive background in digital advertising, she crafts engaging and digestible menopause content that combines facts with humor, making complex information accessible and relatable to her audience.

Her dedication to menopause awareness began with her own journey—navigating a range of challenging symptoms and encountering a lack of reliable informationand care. Frustrated by the gaps in education and support, Andrea made it her mission to research, share, and amplify critical knowledge to help others take control of their health while working to remove the stigma surrounding menopause conversations.

Beyond her advocacy work, Andrea is a devoted music lover, often traveling across
the country (and beyond) to see live shows. Her love for music even inspired the
names of her dogs, Dave Growl and Joan Pett. She also enjoys Pilates, movies,
comedy, cooking, reading, relaxing by the pool, hosting gatherings, and Broadway
shows. A lifelong dancer, Andrea rediscovered her love for tap in her 40s after
stepping away from it for 30 years, seamlessly reconnecting with the rhythm and
joy it brings.

As a cancer survivor, I appreciate Andrea’s dedication to sharing reputable resources.  Her commitment to one and menopause education has empowered me to self advocate with my own medical practitioners, who had largely ignored my surgical menopause symptoms.

What’s in a name?

Whiny GYNie is a play on a derogatory term used to describe “difficult patients” by the medical community. The name perpetuates the idea that symptoms women face should be dismissed, minimized &/or ignored.

Practitioners lacking menopause education or those undereducated regarding perimenopause and menopause have often minimized the experience of patients. The blame for their symptoms were often placed anywhere but the root cause, estrogen depletion

At The Whiny GYNie LLC, we endeavor to take the moniker back, remove the stigma around gynecological issues & menopause and to lobby practitioners to seek appropriate continuingeducation to better serve 50% of the population.
